Racial Literacy: Virtual Lecture Series with Dr. Ismaël Traoré (Part 2)

January 18, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

As more individuals awaken to the reality of racism, public education becomes a crucial venue for dispensing evidence-based knowledge and for the public to develop racial literacy. Join Dr. Traoré for part two of the lecture series on racism and anti-racism. Through talks, reading assignments, and question and answer sessions, this series will provide participants with foundational knowledge on the topic.

The winter lectures will focus on a developmental approach to building an anti-racist multicultural organization, different organizational anti-racism strategies, and working on the self.
This series is best suited for people who are:
a) Aware that racism exists and seek more information about its various manifestations, and
b) Interested in learning more about anti-racism work.
This series is not a “how-to” series, which is the domain of consultants. Instead, the focus is on “what”; that is, on explaining core concepts and domains of knowledge in the field of racism and anti-racism. Participants are expected to commit to attending all lectures, and doing all readings, because they build upon one another.
